brake parts and grease

I'm curious what you fellas do for the rollers and stuff, grease them? oil them lightly when assembleing? mine is bone dry all the cams and pins and such when I took things apart for inspection what does henry say to do back there?

Use grease designed for brake work sparingly.

ok. sounds correct. like the pins and stuff. what is correct stuff to use for the A?

Use disc brake grease, sparingly, with an acid brush. Lube all moving parts, that have metal to metal contact.

I use since some 10 years AFC Anti-Friction-Coat paint. That is a Molybdändisulfid mix. In USA manufactor is for example Dow Corning.
Recomennt dry it with hot air.

Put the E brake C link pins in the other way, sort of a pain, but it will keep them from rubbing the drum

For lube I now use a Crest product called "ectolube" ,synthetic brake grease with high temperature drip point, 45 years ago I used white lubriplate, it's due now, it's been 45 years since I did more than adjusting, though the brakes work good

Sorry to hijack the thread regarding grease.
Werner, I though I should point out that your emergency brake carrier has been bent. It should be straightened out, or replaced. The emergency brake shoe should sit on top of the plate like the other end of the same plate.

FWIW

The emergency brake toggle lever pins are not installed correctly, the pins are in backwards the cotter pin should be behind the lever. With the cotter pin outboard they will rub against the brake drum.

My bad. Looking for the long spring and the emergency brake carrier plate hides it. The drawing doesn't show the second small spring either.

Thank you for the important information about the wrong brake pad
assembly. I'm going to do therefore a new topic. -

Anti-friction coating, in contrast to grease has the great
advantage that it does not stick. Brake abrasion and dust are
not combined as pulp. The lubricating varnish is just a very
thin dry layer.
