Default 6v 7 inch led headlight kit

Has anyone tried these lights? Thinking about replacing my stock 6 volt bulbs in my 53' Merc.

Option #1:

Option #2:

Get a pair of these and just replace the halogen with a LED bulb:

How much night driving do you do. Option #1 pretty pricey in my opinion.

Not that much, so I was favoring option 2. I did run across LED headlight for positive ground VW bugs. Not cheap but it was another possibility. Just wondering if anyone has gone to LED light replacement for 7" sealed beams. Trying to get some options on the subject.

This goes out to anyone that has done the LED conversion on their car, later model car (49'-53'). What 7" Conversion Headlamp/Lens assembly/bulb housing, did you use? I have seen ones for motorcycles (Lucas for Triumphs etc) and Hella for off road. They used to be all over the place, but now, I am not finding any on e-bay.

Have not done it yet but I am about to go with the 7 inch lens/reflector conversion that accepts H4 bulbs.
In my case I will choose a 12 volt LED bulb.
You have a choice of 6 volt H4 bulbs but my only concern is the + ground capability.

About the cheapest way to do it.

Research to date, with price as a leading parameter:

Best price would be a 7" motorcycle light/reflector at $14.95:

http://rimiusa.com/index.php?main_pa...roducts_id=100

Autopal (made in India) seems to have quite a few 7" rounded glass lens patterns for motorcycles, at a reasonable price too.

As to the polarity issue, there are a few choices out there, with no polarity issue:

https://www.ledlight.com/led-headlam...-low-beam.aspx

https://www.ledlight.com/led-headlam...-polarity.aspx

https://www.ledlight.com/led-headlig...polarized.aspx

https://www.ledlight.com/led-headlig...dual-beam.aspx

Thought:

Since the reflectors are glass, they would be insulated from the body. It might be possible to hard wire a second plug into the harness, allowing you to switch out the lights with minimal effort. This would address the polarity issue for the bulbs.

The reflector can make it or break it for these types of conversions. The H4 is set up for the Halogen bulb so I don't know how well an LED would work with it. It would be interesting to find out. Harley Davidson still sells the H4 as a replacement for the bikes that use them. I don't think the new ones use that design but they are 7-inch.

Carid.com may have a lower priced solution.

These do not include the H4 bulb

The 6 volt LED is available from Amazon.

Thank you for the response and information, but I am trying to avoid Negative ground bulbs, due to additional wiring issues. Goal is to put together a "plug and play" set up for a positive ground system.

2nd one worked with 6 volt, but negative earth only

Does not work with 6 volt. Package clearly states “for DV12v vehicles only” and “Lightning voltage range: DC12V-14V. Arrived via China Post in two weeks.

Updated: received replacement form vendor. It arrived in a small bag, no retail packaging this time. The bulb looks identical in every way to the first bulb I received. This bulb does work with a 6 volt Honda(negative earth) but not a 6 volt BSA(positive earth)

LED's - diodes are polarity sensitive, and will only work on +ve earth if specifically designed to do so.
