Default Harry Frye modified water pumps?

Going through receipts for my '36 engine and came across a receipt (1997) from a Harry Frye to modify my pumps, would this guy have been pre-Skip Haney? Can't find anything about him now.

The name would be Harry Fryer who was well known for water pump rebuilding back then . I believe it's his son Daryl Fryer that is doing them now. He advertises in the V8 Times.

Good guy to do your pumps. He was around long before Skip Haney and his pumps really work. He stands behind his work and advertises in the V-8 Times. Had him do pumps for me and the old flattie ran super cool. When Harry passed, his son Daryl took over the business. Same quality and same customer service,

Harry was a real gentleman.
I had his pumps on my 39 Coupe for
over 25 years & they were still going strong
when I sold the car.
Highly recommend

When I ordered four pairs of pumps from Harry, I asked how much should I send? Harry said he would put the bill in with the pumps! And he did. No need for money first.

He is in Redlands, California. I have his phone number as: 1-909-335-1418. I just recently bought some pumps from him.

Same thing with me, on the receipt it says to send check to his address; this was after I received the pumps! BTW, never had a problem with overheating. Thanks for the info. guys.

Many years ago, Daryl's father Harry gifted a pair of his pumps to me as a thank you for referring some business to him. His generosity was as large as his beard!

Totally concur with all the above sentiments.A few years ago I spoke with Daryl about a pair of pumps for my 36 3 window coupe. He told me all about them and I said ok " how much" he gave me the price and I asked how he wanted the funds ( from England)....don't worry about that he said, fit them and only if you are 100% happy with them , send me the money.

I was really taken aback by this attitude and trust in this day and age.The pumps arrived quickly, were great pieces and painted correct colour as well.I will never forget this transaction, what a great guy.

The pumps worked flawlessly .

I asked Daryl if he had ever been turned over on a deal...?He said ,no,never...and offered that the people in the Early V8 Ford World ,are the best .Cant argue with that...just hope some lowlife never spoils things and sees him as an easy mark.

From my experience, Harry Fryer's pumps differ from the Haney's. The Haney's have an improved design for the impellers to improve water flow, I don't think the Haney's have this. The bearing and seals are the big improvement over the stock type of seals and bearings.
I bought two sets of Fryer pumps about twenty years ago, one set for my '36 w/59AB engine and a set for my brothers '37... Never a problem.

I was going to have Fryers do the Merc pumps for the 8ba in my '39 since he's local but at the time he was about 6-8 weeks out so I went with Skip due to a faster turn around. Next time I find a set of narrow belt Merc pump cores I'll send them to Fryer's for a spare set.

You better sick with Skip. The other party uses VERY small bearings which are subject to failure. Some were replaced at least 3 times, then sent to
Skip. These bearings are not only small but very close to the seal. All
seals leak, that's what lubricates them. This superheated water distorts
the seal. I have seen them. G.M.

Interesting comment from someone with a vested interest in the Haney pumps. I think most people can decide for themselves which pump they like and why they like them.

Multiple choices are good - pick who you want. I use Skip's pumps on my 24 stud engines and had him rebuild some 32 pumps for me. On the early 21 stud pumps, he does not have a new/different impeller that I can tell . . . only on the later pumps. If this has changed (from a couple years ago), please correct me?

Corrected my typo in line three of response #14, about Haney's pumps not having an improved impellers...
Once I thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken.
