Re: 8BA Flywheel/Clutch....I've Read TOO Much
okay i'm thick... from the the original postman. The splines on the disc should be the same, if not you have the wrong clutch disc, you can put a 9" or 9.5? disc on a 10" or 11" clutch plate it"ll work. but it'd be better to match. Did i miss something? Seems like you have a miss match or some issue with your clutch plate....

OK, based on and 11.375 and 12.375 bolt circle I come up with this. Look correct?

It's good to go if the dimensions are correct. All mine are Borg & Beck so I can't check.

Re: 8BA Flywheel/Clutch....I've Read TOO Much
I made some templates and bolted them to the flywheel, they fit fine. Now I need a 10 inch pressure plate to see if the line up with the other holes.

Quote:
Since the templates are all the same, only way they'd not be centered is if the holes for the 11 inch clutch weren't in the correct location. But you can bet we'll measure everything as good as we can. The templates were machined to a tight .315 to match the shoulder of the bolt as to keep everything centered. I will not use these templates to do any drilling, they are only to check for proper alignment of the pressure plate holes to make sure my drawing is correct.

Re: 8BA Flywheel/Clutch....I've Read TOO Much
I went ahead and made a drilling template from some .400 thick aluminum.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdkM...ature=youtu.be I made the holes .266, a snug fit for my 17/64 bit to drill the new holes and then .303 for a snug fit for 5/16-18 bolt. It bolted up perfect to the mounting holes for the 11 inch pressure plate. Then I drilled (by hand) two of the holes for the 10 inch and bolted it down. All the others look lined up well, I'll finish drilling and tapping the others tomorrow.

Re: 8BA Flywheel/Clutch....I've Read TOO Much
I finished drilling and tapping. She bolted right up. The Pressure plate came from O'Reilly's, probably from China I suppose. It's bolt holes were not oversize to accommodate the bolts with the shoulder so I drilled and tapped for 5/16-18 only and I'm going to use grade 8 bolts and lock washers. will it vibrate?? guess I'll find out, at least I have some kind of clutch to put back in the thing.

Re: 8BA Flywheel/Clutch....I've Read TOO Much
Well at least put some thread locker on them .... all that work and would have to open up to tighten up bolts??? Nah!

Re: 8BA Flywheel/Clutch....I've Read TOO Much
Knowing where some of the modern made stuff comes from, it may need balance anyway. If a person was to have it balanced along with the flywheel and indexed for positioning, it would be good to go.

Re: 8BA Flywheel/Clutch....I've Read TOO Much
Just a quick follow up, I finally have my F-1 put back together enough to drive it and the clutch works great and no excessive vibration that I can detect. Only been up to 50 MPH however.

Re: 8BA Flywheel/Clutch....I've Read TOO Much
I got lucky and scored a 10" flywheel on ebay. Looked like hell in the pics, but cleaned up real nice. Somehow I had missed your other thread over the last months. I'm gonna try to get my F1 project home soon. Current Coupe project only half done, and already I'm getting the next lined up. It's some kind of disease.

It's never a good idea to look at craigslist just for the fun of it. 8^)
