This concerns the Powerhouse Generators P2-A (Jan. thru April 1928) and P2-B (May thru September 1928).

These were a 5-Brush unit (according to the Standards). The 5 brush holder is placed in a specific spot on the Generator case due to the placement of the 3 holes to secure it to the body.

In looking at the 3-Brush unit. The 3 brush holder is placed in a specific spot on the Generator case due to the placement of the 3 holes to secure it to the body.

It is my opinion just by viewing all these generators is that by looking at the Generator case alone, one can determine if in fact the case was designed for either a 5 or a 3 brush holder by the placement of the 3 holes for attachment..

I have one bonified P2-A Powerhouse generator which was used from January thru April 1928.

However, for my July 1928 Open Cab Pickup I am in need of a 5 brush unit, with cutout on the top and a 2-screw side bracket (P2-B).

So here is the delima...The bodies that I do have which would do the job, as far as the placement of the cutout, which is on the top and which has holes for the 2-screw side bracket, have holes for the 3-brush holder and not the 5-brush holder.

Is placement of a 5-brush holder in a 3-brush case OR a 3-brush holder in a 5-brush case important taking in effect of the three (3) holes to secure the holder to the case?

I tried to make this as clear as possible.

Thanks.

Pluck
