Pedal foot pressures
I'm temporally limited in the pressure I can apply by my feet. What is the operating pressure for an eV-8 clutch on a '39 pickup? How about normal braking. Or said another way: I'm limited to picking up 25 pounds of stuff. Can I safely operate my 39?

Re: Pedal foot pressures
As long as you don't try to pick it up! ;-)
Seriously, if you want to give it a try, and who knows if this is even a valid test, but you could go to the gym where there is a leg press and set it to 25 lbs and see how it is to move it with one leg. As you know, I have a 39 sedan. It is a very easy car to drive. Your truck has the same chassis. Not sure if the rest of the running gear is the same, but it is an easy car to steer and operate.

Re: Pedal foot pressures
No idea what the actual vechile pressures are, but when doing brake calculations to select components when designing a system the max leg pressure used is 70 lbs.

Re: Pedal foot pressures
Max clutch pedal operating spec is 27 pounds I believe....
I no longer recall where I heard or read this number and I also have no idea if Ford would have subscribed to (what I'm sure is a fairly current standard) way back in the 30's. |

Re: Pedal foot pressures
Ms.Sandy drives me to and fro to cardio rehab class Wonderful of her. My stick shift trio wait patiently in the heated garage. I get pressure and force if I threaten to drive an old car.

Re: Pedal foot pressures
A lot of pedal force has to do with the actual working of the brakes and clutch. I have a cousin who had a hot '62 Corvette with a STRONG pressure plate. That car was a bear to drive. My '63, with non-power drum brakes is a bear to stop.
