polarizing a generator

This is a continuation of the post I submitted other day. I'm attaching the instruction sheet that came with a new NOS regulator, I hope.

NOTE: the polarizing instructions are for a type "A" winding, FLASH ARMATURE TO BATTERY not the standard type "B",FLASH FIELD TO BATTERY. Question, does the regulator care if its a type A or B winding and did ford ever use type A in the late 30's, early 40's?

So the burning question now is. Does the regulator care if the gen is a type A or B winding?? And how do i upload a file??

Yes, type B is different and the only type a Ford used, that I'm aware of, except some A were used on tractors.

Here is a copy of the instructions I have. Judging by the three languages, I would say it is for an aftermarket unit, but may be what you need.

The instruction sheet that came with your regulator indicates it is for a type A circuit and therefore you cant use that regulator with any Ford generator made from 1939 onwards. Ford generators are type B field circuit and require only a type B voltage regulator. Make sure those instructions are the ones that belong to that regulator. Check the part numbers on the reg and on the sheet. Regards, Kevin.
