Default 52 f1

Truck starts and runs very well. However, I noticed the other day that in either 2nd or third gear if I need to get on it, instead of winding out. It bogs down. I thinking starving for fuel. My fuel pump was built by Charlie NY, so doubt it’s that. Carb is maybe a year old from Carpenter. I purchased an nos old style (brass) fuel filter, which you can clean and reuse about a year ago. I’m thinking that is 1st and easiest to fix or replace.

Curious if you folks have other ideas.

Truck was also recently tuned up. Plugs, wires, rotor, points and condense. I did not adjust timing.

You should probably check the timing. Replacing the points can cause the gap to change, therefore the dwell, and consequently the timing. Probably not it, but you should recheck the timing every time you change the points.

Thanks, since I very recently replaced the points. I will do as you suggested.

Reading the shop manual it’s not clear. After I disconnect vacuum do I plug it to set w timing light?

Instruction say to plug the line from the carburetor. There shouldn't be any vacuum on the line at idle, but it only takes a second to block it. The vacuum source is removed from the advance canister, which is the objective.

I agree that the filter (or other flow restriction) would be the first suspect.

I'd be surprised if it's the filter. I would think that even with a relatively clogged filter the carb bowl would be full at the point you stomp on the pedal. If it gradually lost steam, then I'd believe it.

I'd bet on the timing. Be sure to check the vacuum advance too.
