Hi there Cobra Joe, I like your custom '57, and hope your headlight swap, going back to singles works out good for you. I see you have built some Cobras. I've had 3 of them little buggers myself. Do you have a Cobra at the present ? Also, Do you have any pix you would care to share with us ? Thx, Lanny .

Re: Hello from new member
Thanks Lanny.
I built a little better than 50 of them over the years. I started out building one for myself and sold it in the middle of a bad divorce shortly after I finished it so the ex couldn't get it. Then she wanted the money from the sale so I rolled that over into a better optioned kit and told her if she wanted the kit she could have it, As I was building my second one, people kept showing up at my shop and wanting to buy it...so it ended up growing into a side business. FFR was 15 miles down the road from and I developed a friendship with the owners and ending up being a builder for them. I built a couple of their prototypes for them, one of actually went to Car & Driver magazine, I'll see if I can post up some pics in the next few days and also would like to see yours also. Anyways, off to work.

I lost all pictures I had of it, in a computer crash years ago. The second Cobra (1966) I had in 2002, and I drove that car for a few years, and sold it to a guy who just had to have it. Below is a picture of it, along side of my (off topic car). Both had 427's. The '67 Cobra I have now, has a 427 Windsor, built with all Jack Roush high performance modifications. (550 HP). With this light weight engine, this li'l Cobra has even scared the heck outa me a few times. It sure is a blast, but I have to use my head giving anyone a ride. Click on pix to Enlarge

Re: Hello from new member
OK, back on track; looks like my eyebrows will be here estimated delivery Monday, Apr 16th. I'm hoping that's everything I'm gonna need. If you guys have any input as to anything else I might need (beside actual headlights) please let me know.
Just need to decide when I actually want to start destroying my car. Not sure if I want to use it a bit, or dive right into it.

My pleasure Lanny, kinda hate derailing my own thread, but it's nice to reminisce with people you don't know too!
Hey, they're all old Ford's, well... almost.

Re: Hello from new member
Thanks a4278v, I thought I could live with it when I bought it, but I got tired of people asking me if that was the car from "Christine"
It got to the point that I even changed my avatar to show the back of the car, lol.

Re: Hello from new member
That is a nice looking car, Joe. I never noticed the differences in the 57 and 58 fenders at the front before.

Re: Hello from new member
Hi Joe,
You have probably already made your choice by now, but add me to the guys who like it just fine as is. About those 'Christine ' comments, no sweat. I lost count of people who have seen my '56 Vickie on the street, and yelled 'Nice Bel Aire'. |
