'40 Tudor oil pressure switch removal
Got an NOS oil pressure switch to
install with the original low mileage engine in place in the chassis with body & mechanicals surrounding it. Don't have a KRW removal wrench in my toolbox & have tried crowsfoot & stubby wrenches to loosen to no avail. It must be installed at the factory with a big adjustable as the brass square fitting is closer to 15mm than 9/16 or 5/8. Any one out there in the Barn world have a suggestion. Thanks.... |

It's 9/16" across flats. If you can't remove it from beneath the hood then remove the floor pan. VERY easy to get at "straight" from there so you can get a good amount of muscle on it...

Thanks Kube-- I thought of that but
it didn't look like removing the floor pan would give me high enough access. I'll give it a try. Nice coupe you have there! Tudor40 |

Re: '40 Tudor oil pressure switch removal
I have a couple of different versions of that wrench one county over from you, Morris, if a road trip sounds acceptable. I could leave them on my front steps so you could pick them up...I won't mail tools I don't think I can replace easily.
If you have a torch...get hold of a cheap 9/16ths wrench, bend it 90 degrees right behind the open end, bend over box end at top, and weld or jury-rig an extension there. You will have a pretty fair copy of the official wrench. |

That's a very considerate offer and I do appreciate it! I have been thinking of going in to the wrench making business, if I have to. I'm going to remove those original kick boards and try Kube's suggestion as a point of access. I'm originally from Mt. Arlington so you're not far away. Thanks again.....Roger |
