Default Right Tail light & rumble step plate bracket

How does one bolt the right hand side tail light bracket with the step plate bracket in place as shown in the photo.

Originally, you didn't or at least couldn't with parts supplied by Ford. It wasn't till the '33 models that you could have two tail lamps and a rumble seat step pad at the same time. Someone makes a right hand '32 tail lamp bracket with a base that will conform to the original '32 step pad bracket. I also recall seeing recently-made step pad brackets with a cutout in them to clear the stem of the tail lamp bracket. Or you could trim the base of the tail lamp bracket to fit within the confines of the outer base of the step pad bracket. The latter is not something I'd recommend for an original tail lamp bracket given their relative scarcity.

Thanks DavidG.....I no longer have to scratch my head on this one. My present solution is to have spacers and longer bolts to hold the tail light mount in order to make it work. It would place the tail light out farther ( a bit ) than normal, but....who would notice or care. Thks again.

Hi, I trimmed my repro light bracket so that it would nest inside the rumble step bracket as show.

That looks exactly how I did mine. My tail light bracket was a repro so I did the cutting on the bracket. I also didn't cut the rumble seat step bracket because I didn't want to weaken it and risk having it break when someone stepped on it. Be careful when people are getting into the rumble seat that they don't trip on the tail light.
