Drivers door sag

My drivers has a little sag & is now rubbing the door against the jam. I will replace the pins the see if this cures or helps. If not what Next ?? Just looking for a little Help.

If the hinge pins are worn smaller than the holes in the hinges , replacing the hinge pins will help . Usually springing the door is an easier fix than trying to adjust .

When I finished restoring my 29 ccaa, I had the same problem, had to place 2 shims under cowling per side, made from 1/4" conveyor belt, each side of cowling has a front and back hold down bolts, if you only shim the back it will pick up door but the hood may not line up with cowling, trial and error is how I got mine to work.

look at the dove tail that mates up with a slot. there are some wear parts in there. I would replace the pins at the same time.

First check and make sure the pins or hinges are worn. It there's no movement when you lift up on the door then you need to shim the rear cowl bolt to lift the door. JP

If the door is sagging at the rear lower area I place a block of wood wrapped in a shop rag in the door jam , in the area of the lower hinge . When pushing the door too , (NOT enough for the door to latch ) springs the lower hinge back and raises the rear of the door . Care must be taken not to go too far or it gets more complicated . You will probably need to experiment with different thickness of the wood or whatever is placed at the front door jam in the area of the lower hinge . If the wood is too thin it won't do much of anything . There is no sliding adjustment for the doors , Springing the hinge is what I do . Springing the lower hinge backward raises the rear of the door . Shimming the cowl is sometimes the way to go . Removing shims at the front of the cowl raises the door at the rear . If removing shims at the front doesn't do the job , adding shims at the rear of the cowl will raise the rear of the door to remove sag . I loosen all body bolts nuts almost completely. I use a long Craftsman screwdriver under the body block to prize ihe body block upward for the necessary clearance to remove or replace the shims .I prefer prizing the body blocks up for clearance rather than raising the body .

Should you remove the hinge first and get the pin out on the bench or try to get it off in place? My roadster hinge pins are very worn and I am trying not to ruin the paint if I can help it....

Thanks Mike, I have a similar pin remover but it won't work on the top door hinge so I guess I need to remove the hinge? Anybody else run into that?
