36 pickup windshield seal
what type of seal is used on a 36 pickup windshield? The seal I have looks like the frame seal only but I cannot find anything on the seal for around just the glass inside the frame?
Also who has the seal that is used on the side windows that keeps the bottom of the glass tight in the rails? Thanks guys |

Re: 36 pickup windshield seal
The seal for the glass with just be the 'setting tape' and some black windshield sealant if required, its all I used. Of course it requires the two halves of the frame to come apart and... well thats the start of the fun 'n swearing .
Side windows will be the same , setting tape. now go back and see 'fun 'n swearing' ....

Thanks Talkwrench, I used a lot of disassembly swearing so I should only have assembly swearing left now

Re: 36 pickup windshield seal
Have an auto glad place cut your glass and install it. That way if they break it, it's not your fault. Be sure they cut it without any logos on the glass. Add logos yourself with glass etching kit that is easily available on the market.

Re: 36 pickup windshield seal
Yeah look be careful on the install its a right PITA. I remember when I did it, phew wasnt easy I was going at it with rubber mallet, blocks of hard wood and even hammering it down on the ground, god only knows how I didnt break it ..
As Lawson says if you can take it too someone [foolish enough] to do it you may get it done cheap and if they break it , not your problem ; )

The setting channel for 1935 side windows is special in that it has a flap to seal to the inside of the door when it is up. 1936 just used setting tape and the felt wipers on the bottom of the window opening, 1935 had rubber bumpers no seal. |

Re: 36 pickup windshield seal
I bought glass and a reproduction frame from Mac's a few years ago.
The glass didn't fit the frame. My local national chain windshield installer agreed to cut a new windshield and install it in the frame as a side job, I think, at a lower price than I paid for the mail order glass alone. I think he used the cork based glass bedding I ordered from Mac. |
