Default 1959 Coupe Header question

Title states 1959. I meant 1950. Sorry. This is a shoebox question.

What is the difference between a convertible car and the rest that make some headers only fit convertibles? What is in the way?

And for a convertible it's less than half the price. You'd think they sell more non convertible ones so they'd be cheaper. what gives?

Fits non convertible only $350

And for convertible $128.

Not a definitive answer, but I copied this (below) from elsewhere on the FordBarn. DD

Re: 1951 convertible exhaust

"The X-type frame has provisions on the right side for the pipe to the back but the left side may not have all the holes in the legs & support members. A person might have to make a lightening hole or two to route the left pipe. The gas tank on Ford cars can even complicate things some times. Headers are always a custom job for exhaust and Smithys or other mufflers have different dimensions than stock so a guy might contact a local muffler shop & see what they will offer. It doesn't cost much for an estimate. A guy would at least need to talk to the folks at Red's Headers to get an idea whether they have investigated this before for a particular model or what header combo might fit best."

Speaking of Red's Headers, there may be better places to obtain tube headers than Ecklers, Red's among them.

I have looked at Red's site. That ecklers was just an example. Red's prices are a little closer, within $20 of each other. But still shows a different part for convertible and non convertible.
Red's does seem like the way to go. Seems like them and Fenton have the best things said about them.

I did look around the forum before I posted my question. Didn't see that. I have noticed that my frame has a hole through part of the frame in which the exhaust pipe goes. That hole is on one side and not the other. Looking at diagrams online the convertible has an X in the fame. So I guess that's it. it's not so much the fit of the header itself but the routing of the exhaust after the header. I'm kind of a cheap skate, I want good stuff. But I'll save money where I can. Might just put the stock manifolds back on.

From a performance prospective there is not going to be much of any difference between stock and aftermarket headers on anything near stock.

I know. just exploring my options. For $100 or so maybe worth it. But I'm not going to pay $300 for it.
