In North Jersey, the local station, WMTR 1250 AM, plays all oldies. It started playing them several years ago with just fifties and sixties music, but a couple of years ago, they added seventies music. When they start playing a song from the seventies that I don't like, I just turn the radio off. Otherwise, the radio comes on when I "power up" the garage. I wish they played more "car" and "surf" music.

Something to be said when the oldies station is playing 70's-80's music. Pretty soon we may have to go to the Smithsonian to hear real oldies. Then again some of us still have 60's music "blowing through the canyons of our minds".

I bought a GE spacesaver AM FM CD player at a garage sale for $5.00, new in the box. I mounted it under my cabinet in the garage. I listen to a lot of AC DC, Molly Hatchet, Motorhead and 80s heavy metal. A friend of mine, makes me a lot of CDs of greatest hits. Gotta have some tunes when I'm working on my Torino.

Pete - go to www.songza.com or download the app on your smart phone. Search for
surf guitar, surf, etc. Great music and it is free.
There is a 'Spaghetti Western Surf Guitar' on there as well. Thankfully we're not limited to terrestial radio. I Heart radio on the phone and I can listen to Giants games where ever I go.

Sorry but that was 72. One of my favorite songs.....

I just take my IPAD and set it up near where I am working. If I have internet I use the ITunes radio app on my Uncle Lucius station or stray cats station.

There are always 50's-60's tunes playing in The Hot Rod Grille Garage. Here is my wife and me playing the 1955 Wurlitzer Model 1800 jukebox. There is also a Wurlitzer Model 1015-OMT in the garage for variety. Hard to beat the sound of an old Wurlitzer (or two) belting out some rock-n-roll while you work on a project!
