Rattle Can Straw
I realize that the color "straw" has many variations.
Having said that, does anyone know of a specific rattle can brand and color that comes close to this pic? The "clean" area of course. Thanks Len |

Re: Rattle Can Straw
I had a automotive paint store tell me they could mix paint and put it in a spray can.

Re: Rattle Can Straw
Same here in Elyria, Ohio. Our auto paint store told me it could be done for about $25.00 per can.

Re: Rattle Can Straw
Go to your nearest auto body repair shop and ask where they buy their supplies.
like paint primer and sandpaper. Then take your wheel to that shop and they will match your paint perfectly and put it in a rattle can that will work better than most over the counter rattle cans. Not all shops have that kind of equipment so you will have to find one that does. |

Re: Rattle Can Straw
I use Krylon 'Buttercream' for touchups on my wheels. It matches my 'Straw' wheels pretty closely. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also took the painted portion of the '31 upper radiator shell into an automotive paint store and had them match it up into a can of spray paint. Took about 10 minutes and as far as I was concerned, a perfect match.

Re: Rattle Can Straw
I was looking to paint my wheels the light yellow look that they call Tacoma Wheat in later years and earlier called Straw (I think), but it is a light yellow and not the off white that your picture shows.
I did a bunch of looking and trying and then found a perfect match for what looked to be Tacoma Wheat and Straw in some pictures. Again this has that light yellow look I found it in Home Depot, as others didn't carry it. It's Rustoleum Painters touch 2X Warm Yellow gloss and I like the way mine came out. Since it doesn't cost much, if you think this is the color you are looking for, you might buy a can and give it a try. The gloss makes it look really nice and likely more durable that flat. |

Re: Rattle Can Straw
I did the same as Houdini. I'm pretty much color blind, especially before the cataract surgeries, but my wife is an artist. We took the original color charts to the Rural King store and she found the Warm Yellow Gloss Rustoleum the closest.

Yes, this color was invented by my grandfather.
Thanks for asking! Steve Straw |

Did he invent the Straw Berry as well?

Re: Rattle Can Straw
Get the color mixed , thin it a bit and use an air brush for small areas. Then after it dries wet sand it down to 2000 grit. Blends in well.

I’ve bought paint from this website before, little pricey, but it’s good stuff. |
