Two or four door? Where, in general, are you located? If you put your general location in your profile it might pay off.

In addition to what Charlie wrote, what are you looking for ?
Stock, slightly modified, (hyd brakes, later flathead, ect, ) or a street rod.
They are all priced accordingly but you should be able to pick up a decent sedan in the 25K range. That seems to be what they are going for out here.
Whatever you do, DO NOT buy someone else's project unless you are willing to dump a bunch of money and time in it. I am seeing a lot of 33-34 projects being sold off these days.
Have fun.

Hello ,thank you for your reply’s and advice, as for location it’s Erie ,Pa. what I looking for is a original or older restoration as built 2 or 4 door. I mentioned I have a 49 Buick Convertible I may sell, it’s a nice car but I really don’t enjoy driving it. I did have a couple of Model A Fords , and pre war V8 s .but never a 33 or 34.

Look closely before pulling the trigger. There has been a "restored"'33 4dr for sale on the V8 website for awhile .Its also advertised on the HAMB.Nice looking car from the pics but when you look at the interior the woodgraining to me is awful and uph not that great either. But again that's me.I think he wants $25K.

Just for reference, my son bought this 34 for $5800 origional paint and it drives stops
perfectly BUT everything for these is big big bucks far as I'm concerned any 33 34 any
make is big bucks. My weak spot is a 33 Plymouth first thing I ever drove. Father bought
it in 1950 for $15.75 cents. Time went on I probably had 10; plus the holy grale 33 PD
station wagon. Now remortgage the property IF you can find one...

Your son did very well at that price.
Guys are breaking them up and selling the parts for a lot more than that.
10K frames, 3K dashboards, 2500 garnish moldings, dual temp gauges, etc.
It is nice he was able to find an affordable one.

I'm interested if people think the price of 33-34's are dropping as certainly in New Zealand they appear to be. I purchased my 34 sedan about 4 years ago for NZ$65000 (US$ 43,000) at that stage it was considered a really good buy and several similar cars had been sold for more . Today I know of two that have sold recently for NZ$55000 and $42000 (US$ 36000 and $ 27000 respectively ) The cheaper car had apparently all been done but needed reassembly. There is a nice 34 Tudor currently for sale for US$42000.

While out prices are higher ( lack of cars , RHD and Geographic isolation means rarity hence increased demand/prices ) there appears to be a slide back. Interestingly this has not been seen with the humble Model A and my 1930 Phaeton is probably very saleable at NZ 45000 ( US$30000 )

Strange

i agree. it was 5 years ago when i started looking for a 3w. 3 years ago i bought this one, and since have seen the few for sale are better and cheaper than mine. bad business on my part maybe, but i think the market is down in demand. funny because the art deco beauty of a model 40 is incomparable to the humble model A

Hello thanks for all of the reply’s and advice I have been watching internet on the Model 40 also have bought many books for research on them, those from the Early Ford V8 club being most informative. I did see the ad for the 33 sedan mentioned in this post ,wondered what how good it is in person, being that it’s located in California rules out a road trip to check it out.Currently there is one in Wisconsin in Hemmings for sale that seems similar.May check that out if Buick sells.Gary

Thanks for the link it’s one rare car with the 4 cylinder engine still in it ,not sure if if it’s worth price but would be a good car for restoration.Michigan is relatively close to my home, might be worth a road trip.

Looks like a good candidate and Michigan is lovely this time of year. Stop by the Gilmore Museum if you have the time, it's a full day.

You might consider joining the Early Ford V-8 Club if you are not a current member. Some nice cars show up for sale in the bi-monthly club magazine, The V-8 Times. The one advertised on the V-8 Club website is not too far from me and I can look at it for you when you are ready to buy something.

The 33 Fordor on the Early Ford V8 website has been for sale on there over a year and they have reduced the price considerably. I think I remember they were asking over $30-35K originally. It looks like a pretty nice car. I live in Buffalo and bought my 34 Fordor from California a few years ago. I am satisfied with it. If you could get TJ to look at the car you might want to consider it.

IMHO you can get one for way less than that if you are patient. Old Fords just aren't selling even at cheap prices.

In the latest issue of the V-8 Times there is a 1934 Fordor DeLuxe, ground up restoration, part of the Dr. Miller collection, with extras for $32,500.

Mr. Texas is correct. It seems that the price of original 33 and 34 sedans are dropping. The old car market is changing.
However, if the car has been upgraded to include all the modern conveniences for comfortable cruising, the price goes up accordingly. You may find a museum that is selling one as interest is waning and they need to update their inventory. Do a CL search.

Hello I want an original restored car that is a historic part of the USA at a point in time when built. I did his when restoring the Buick to make it as accurate as possible. I know it will probably take awhile to sell $49000 a lot of money for a toy that not many have and interested it .But it’s a hobby, see what happens next.Gary
