On my '29 Coupe, to gain access for DMV to check the ID stamp on the frame,
I removed fenders, running boards, removed body bolts, raised the body and splash aprons were able to be removed. Mine had never been off, so it turned out to be an opportunity to do some sheet metal repair at that time, and purchase a body/frame bolt kit.!

Good luck and enjoy.. kb

You don't say what year or body style you have and I don't know if it makes a difference. On my 31 Roadster, I had to remove bolts for #1 and #2 body mounts, remove the 2 step bolts on each splash shield that hold the shield to the frame (you can do this from under the car). Removed the nuts on the rest of the body mounts and I was able to lift the body slightly and pull the splash shields out. Now that I have the new shields freshly painted, I will have to be more careful installing them and may have to lift the body a little more, an inch or so should do it. Just a word of caution. Make sure that you don't displace or loose the shims under mounts 1 and 2 or you could spoil the hood and door alignment. The rest of the mounts should be ok as you will leave the bolts in place, just removing the nuts, and the bolts will hold the shims in place. Also make sure your frame webbing is in place when you re-install the shields. Good luck!
