We spent the weekend moving more "stuff" into the house... Now the fun really begins... We will be converting the apartment in the stand alone garage into garage space... When completed, we'll have room for four cars/trucks and additional storage space as well as a separate room for a large sand blast cabinet... I'm excited...

This morning, when I walked past the '39 CS, I noticed some liquid on the floor... Upon closer inspection, if found it to be water from the radiator... I hope it's only a loose hose clamp... we'll see at lunch time...

Vic:
This is why you should park the cars/truchs out side on the grass so you do not see the leaks. If you don't see it it can't be broke !!!! LOL LOL

Will the fun ever end ?????

LET'S HOPE NOT

Bill, Even my wife now understands that, if you don't see a puddle of oil or water, etc. under a Flathead... there's no oil or water, etc., in it... Like you, I too hope the fun never ends... It's just that sometimes I have to remind myself that this is supposed to be FUN...

Vic, hopefully it will be something simple like a loose clamp. Of course "simple" and "old cars" don't always go together. LOL!

You got that right Steve! I'm working up the courage to crawl underneath the '39 CS to see just what fun is in store for me... I can't even put her up on the lift as the '63 Avanti is occupying it at the moment...

Hey, Vic - you've got a kitchen in the garage so you can cook for da boyze while they are helping you out IN the garage!

Well, its lunch hour so, I went into the garage to check out the '39's water leak...

I couldn't find any signs of dampness on the hoses or around the water pumps or on the upper or lower radiator tanks so... I surmise that she just spit some water out of the overflow tube...

You can see evidence of radiator water on the fan blades, water pump pulleys and cross member so, she obviously was spittin' water from somewhere but, she never overheated... Guess I'll put some water in the radiator and take her for a ride, to see how things go... Another as yet unsolved Flathead mystery…

As long as you are planning on taping up that leak, maybe get a smaller brush out, say less than 3" wide, and repaint that bumper stripe. Oh yeah, maybe they came that way from the factory. Yeah, and maybe Helen Keller worked on the striping line.
C'mon Vic, have you NO pride?

Hey Kube, Glad to see you are also keeping up with our garage fun. The bumper stripe was like that when I got the car 24 years ago... I've never bothered to repaint it, as it does not impede the performance as I cruise down the highway with a big smile on my face, beaming with pride, knowing I've built an excellent "driver"... I thought you were going to blame Bob Drake for the paint job... LOL

That '36 you found is a very cool car, hope you have fun with it

I just got back from a ride in the '39 CS, everything was COOL, (literally and figuratively) and no leaks are visible at this point. I'll leave her sitting in the garage for a while and come back to see if she has put out any water...

Steve, you sound like my Urologist LOL. On the '39 CS everything looks ok. I don't think it was a leak, as everything was tight and there were no signs of dampness at any of the hose connections. My guess is she just wante d some attention...

Vic, a little fine steal wool will clean up that bumper line. Either tape the center or run it lightly over it. The indent should keep the paint in the middle. Glad your leak wasn't something costly.

Thanks Tinker, I know how to fix it (I've painted hub caps) I just don't really care about it that much... My cars/trucks are drivers, (not museum pieces to be kept behind velvet ropes) and I don't bother with car shows and so called "Judges". Thankfully, I'm too busy driving and enjoying the vehicles to worry about paint lines on a bumper... As for the water on the garage floor… I don’t know why the car pushed it out… Maybe the temp went up a bit to high when I shut her off and the pressure pushed the water out the overflow…

Big Doing’s at the Cigar City Flatheads Club House…

(aka my garage), in the next couple of weeks! Now that we are finally moved (almost) into the house, its time to order the double garage door and get ready to remove the wall section… In the photo you can see a single window on the left side, when we built the garage we framed out a double garage door and put the window in the center as that room (soon to become a two car garage) was our bedroom. Behind the bedroom is a bathroom, as well as living/dining room and kitchen (all one area). In total its 1000 Sq. Ft., or room for four cars and a bunch of related parts, etc. It takes just about 4 weeks to get the garage door so, it won’t be too long… I’m excited! Next on the todo list, the driveway, brick "water table" and fresh coat of paint on the "Club House"

Thanks Roffeman, I think your '37 would fit in nicely with all the other Cigar City Flatheads. Why not take a nice long road trip this summer and come for a visit...
