The Ford Barn

Bought this hub puller at Hershey - it has the raised letters "Ford AB Pat no. 1867211 " on it . I have searched the A and T forums as well as the web finding only 1 photo of a similar one which suggested it was for a T.
Does anyone know what this one is or made for ? It does fit the A rear hub .

The patent number you posted doesn't correspond to any similar device, but if at least the first 4 digits are correct, that would mean this device was patented around 1928-1930 – suggesting it's meant for a Model A.

I believe it will work on the '26-'27 Model T wire wheel hubs and on the early Model A hubs with the raised ribs.

Thanks for the comments so far - the patent numbers are difficult to read - the 8 could be a 3 and the last two 11 could be 77. I checked on a spare axle and hub and the thick lip at the bottom does fit nicely in the A hub groove. Trying to determine if it was made to be used on model A before using it on our 31 SWTS

With the generous thread on the thumb-nut, it may work on either the "raised ridge" version hub AND the groove style.

Those numbers didn't turn up anything. You can run the search yourself here, just enter the number with a 0 in front of it ("01867211"):

This puller was made by "Duro Metal Products Co" Chicago Il.

Patent 1,857,211. Applied for Feb 27 ,1931 and granted May 10,1932

The "Ford AB" lettering must mean "works with the Ford Model A or B." The B would have been out at the time the puller was manufactured.

That is likely so - Dan's puller has "Ford A" and "Pat Pend" from what I can see.
