Have I wired the ignition switch correctly? Does it make a difference?

It's simply an on-off switch so makes no difference.

Be careful the screws in the back don't contact the gas tank and short out.

I added electrical tape to the tank surface. I added liquid tape to the screws as an added insulator.

You can also adjust the collar so you have more clearance in the back.

I doesn't matter which wire connects to which terminal of the replacement type ignition switch . , It makes NO difference which coil wire is connected to which terminal of the coil for the engine to run . To be correctly wired as original , the red wire should connect to the + side of the coil .
