What are you guys using to pull the pinion on V8 center sections?

Thanks! Got a press, but it's only 3 1/4" opening. I guess I could build another shelf with a wider opening.

Heating the housing to about 200 degrees helps also.

It would probably be worth modifying the press so it can be opened up wider than the normal size if need be. Mine has two channel sides held together with bolts and tubular spacers. Quite often I loosen the bolts to accommodate something wider. I used my press in a similar way to that pictured above.

Interesting Ken, does your work by tightening the nut? The center shaft has threads not visible in the photo? Also what did you use for the arch?
