Pass door locked from the outside
I'm still getting aquatinted with my 1930 Coupe and one thing I've discovered is that the passenger side door can only be opened from the inside and there is no provision to lock/unlock the door like there is on the driver's side. And even though I don't have the keys for it, the only locks with keyholes are the rumble seat and the passenger door. Also worth noting, the PO redid the door panels.
So, my questions; 1) should the passenger door have the slide lock/unlock mechanism? 2) should the driver's side door have a keyhole? 3) can key be made without swapping the tumblers? Thanks guys, Carl Last edited by cederholm; 04-25-2018 at 10:48 AM. |

Here is a link to the part I think you need at Bert's.

Re: Pass door locked from the outside
I have the same car:
Driver's side - inside slide lock, plain handle outside. Passenger side - outside key lock on handle, no lock inside. Designed that way to keep you from being slammed by traffic while locking it up. As for 3), let me know when you find out. |

Re: Pass door locked from the outside
Remove the handle on the passenger side.
On OEM assembly the key number should be found on the shaft. A&L specialities can make the key. |

Re: Pass door locked from the outside
I took my handle off the car and took it to a local locksmith. He had a working key the next day.
