Model A Ford shock set complete ready to go!!
City:
Lafayette
State:
IN
Price:
$550
I got these shocks about 4 or 5 years ago at an auction and havent used them yet so I thought they should go to someone that can use them. They may be NOS but I think it's likely they were restored at some point but they look like new, no pits and good paint. All the parts are there to install on your car! $550 I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow.
Thanks, Don |

Re: Model A Ford shock set complete ready to go!!
I did realize that the rear set had been used for a mock up once so they have a bit of grease on some of the parts but still all in great shape with new pivot balls on all 4 arms. may need some paint touchup too but you WONT be disappointed with this set.
Thanks, Don |

Hi, Your shocks are the reproductions made in Chicago, Ill. several years ago. They are not NOS. Just look at the covers.

Hi! Pickupman You said that the shocks in the picture were reproduction made in Chicago. I brought a set of shock a bunch of years ago from a man at the Turlock,CA swap meet. He sold rebuilt shock out of back of his Cadillac that were rebuilt in Chicago.I forget the name of the re builder. I wonder if they are from same place? Richard/Ca.

The young man at the Turlock Swap Meet was the son of the man who built the Shocks originally; they came from Chicago, IL. He was just selling what was left after his father passed away. They included the arms, links, and mounting bolts. The arms are brass, I believe it shows in the photos posted. Ron |

Thanks Ron I believe that you are right about that. If I recall I brought the last set he had because he told me that he would not be coming back this any more. I was told that they were modified and could not be rebuilt like the originals.3 are still working good 1 did not have the cap screw on tight enough a leaked. I have not check it out yet.

Re: Model A Ford shock set complete ready to go!!
After going out to my garage and taking a better look at the ones I brought they look just like the onces that are picture above. As I look at the way they were made I am sorry that I brought them. But I was young and not to Model a smart at the time. Every body as probably done some thing similar at one time I hope. Help me out some one please say they did some thing not to Model a smart also. I rememebr the guy at Hershey. He was "Pete the vendor". He was very "present" at Hershey as a rowdy but decent sort of guy. Never owned any of his shocks but he sold loads of them in his day.

He advertized as "Parts by Pete". Cowl bands were another product of his.

I will help you out by saying that: 1,) you should never, never discredit another persons item for sale on this site by making a comment like you did here. 2.) You talk too much here. This is the "Items for sale" / "Swap Meet" not the "Model A Forum" |

I don't think what Mikeinnj posted above was called for (You talk too much here). Personal remarks I don't believe are very helpful in this form. Richard/ca was just stating his experience with a similar item he had purchased. Maybe a PM would have been a better choice if you really think what he stated was not right.

Against better judgement, I'm going to tell YOU and each who has posted 'comments' here (SWAP SECTION)...You are violating Ryans' rules for use of this privilege! Cob would tell you same..if he wasn't on vacation.

Re: Model A Ford shock set complete ready to go!!
Richard don't discredit these parts, he told his opinion, other guys may have a other opinion and could post it also. I think it is helpful, when guys who knows a lot of Model As and parts, point seller or buyer if the part they describe or looking for is really original, rebuilt or reproduction and fi reproduction, if they are good working or not.
I'm not so deep in the practice of Model A shocks, but I need a set of them and I would buy them, if they are worth the money and usable on my car, but I don't have that much money to spend on unusable parts and 550 bucks + shipping is a lot of money for me. But be honest to each other, our heart ticks for the same car. |
