Default Hub caps loose

Does anyone have a trick for tightening new hubcaps onto the wheels? I took a punch and hammered each individual tang on the inside of the wheel and they're still loose as goose.

Thanks for the input, guys. Since I just a couple days ago got a shipment of parts that will hopefully be the last I need for a wile I decided to see if I could find some common rubber bands that would work. Much to my surprise, I did.

The next time I order some parts I'll get the Ford approved version. Don't tell anyone in the mean time.

They were not original so therefore not Ford approved. You can go to Lowe's and get O rings and they will work.

I only bend about 1/3 of the tangs. That way if you take them off and break a tang, no big deal. I don't bend them anymore than necessary, sometimes not hammering them really flush exposes minor edges etc. You can even tweak them a little before bending. Mine are nice and snug.
