61-62 Galaxie 3 speed NOS shifter???
I bought this NOS shifter a while ago and cannot identify who made it or the exact application. The seller thought it was an accessory offered by Ford for 61-62 Ford Galaxie cars. It certainly is not Hurst or any other shifter company from the era to the best of my knowledge. The shifter control box is a Galaxie T10 4 speed box with the 3-4 swing arm removed. The rods, swivels, and levers look like Hurst but have no numbers on them. The stick is an exact duplicate of the 62 Bucket seat car but without the reverse pull up. I will try to add a picture.

The big muffler clamp to secure the back to the tailhousing is generally something in a lower quality conversion shifter.

You may be correct but to take a NOS Galaxie 4 speed shifter, remove the 3-4 arm, and duplicate the shape of the console stick really makes me wonder. Thanks for the reply.

You might try over on the HAMB. There's some guys there that can identify anything. If you're not a member do a proper intro. The rules are the rules over there.

Re: 61-62 Galaxie 3 speed NOS shifter???
The shifter itself is a Ford, the basic design lasted thru most of the 60's and was used on FSC's, Intermediates as well as Compacts, including Mustangs.
Where the 2 bolts are attaching it to the plate with the forward running straps, is where it originally bolted to the tail housing of the trans. There should be a 3rd bolt hole up behind the shift arms that also attached to the tail housing. The tab that is a 90 degrees to the shift arms is for the backup light switch. The plate and forward running arms appear to be a fabricated thing |

Re: 61-62 Galaxie 3 speed NOS shifter???
Craig,
The guy that I bought this from lost the instructions long ago so I may never know what this is. I took the stick and box off of the rest of the mounting parts and took 2 pictures but it is not letting me send them at this time. The control box has the distinct 3 bolt Galaxie, (64-65 Fairlane, Tiger, Cobra) bolt pattern and has the T10 smaller shaft. The stick has the 61-62 indexing ball at the bottom instead of the flat base with the 2 springs and half round inserts that the 63 and up used. I have a hard time believing anyone would take the trouble to make this setup. Mike. |

Why you can't call this guy who sold you it and don't ask him about what is it?

I bought this on Ebay a long time ago..At the time the seller told me what it was for and everything he knew about it. I'm confident it will fit the Galaxies, I just wish that I knew who made it.
