Default buying 35 PU Fuel Tank

Need to purchase a new fuel tank for our 35 Pickup restoration project. Not seeing good things about Bob Drake on The Barn. Any other dealers that might have tanks and your recommendations on plastic vs steel replacement ?.

I got the $99 tank with free shipping last year. I think that for the price it was worth the 4 week wait.

I did have some fitment problems, though. Several other folks reported the same.

I think that for a drop in installation it would have been fine. I inserted from the bottom and could not get enough side to side movement to get the rim on top of the frame on both sides.

I ended up with one edge on top and one edge bolted under the frame. Not sure if the poly or other steel tanks are shaped better.

Bought a new tank from Drake for my '39 p/u during his 20% off and free shipping promo. Got the tank in a week or so and fit with no issues. I did have the bed off to install the rear shock kit I got from Drake at the same time so I can't say how difficult the install would have been with the bed on. Bottom line -I'd buy another tank from Drake if I needed one.

Drake's tank will work, but it leaves a lot to be desired as far as "exactly like original" is concerned.
