Does anyone know of someone in NJ who has experience riveting frames?

Thanks

Jerseyboy,
It is not that hard to rivet frames. There was an article recently (2012 or 2013) in the Restorer or Model A News magazine that went step by step through the process. I might have the article, but I would have to look. The rivets are relatively cheap at Big Flats Rivet in NY (Jim Dix). You do need a helper, an acetylene torch and possibly some unique bucking material.

wrndln,

Yeah, I was thinking of trying this myself, but it gets my dad all worked up and nervous. I like trying new things and I am pretty handy, but I do not have the torch or bucking material at hand.

I can probably find a chuck of steel somewhere, but that still leaves the torch.

If I can get someone in NJ with experience, to come to the wagon, I will gladly pay for the help.

If you can find the Restorer articles, I will appreciate it.

Where in NJ? How far apart is the car? Bare frame? What needs to be rivited??
A large or specialty big truck repair facility or body shop might be the best bet. You also might try posting this on the EV8 forum and the HAMB.

Jerseyboy,
The frame riveting article is in the Jan/Fed 2013 Restorer magazine. I have the article on my computer, but I would need your email to attach it to an email to sent it. The article is pretty good.

Thanks Paul,

The front cross member needs to be riveted in. I posted here about this on a thread awhile ago.

I had posted on EV8 awhile ago but not the HAMB. I will try the HAMB next.
