Modern paint code for Dartmouth Green?
Guys is there a way to obtain the current acrylic enamel paint code for Dartmouth Green for 1939? I'm looking for single stage only and my paint guy can't find it and I have no good place on the truck that his computer camera can use. Thanks in advance.

Nice color choice John.Let me know if you need a piece of my truck for color reference,I'm sure the backside of some interior parts would work(above windshield etc.).Good luck!

Re: Modern paint code for Dartmouth Green?
Question: I have a '38 Phaeton that was repainted Dartmouth Green in the early '60s. Since the charts I have don't show Dartmouth Green being available in '38, is it possible my car was some other green in '38...or could it have been ordered that color? The jambs and corners seem to match the outside and it doesn't look like a million dollar paint job, just a respray. I remember LeBaron Bonney did a top at the same time and it came home painted too. Was there a green in'38 that was close?

Re: Modern paint code for Dartmouth Green?
I want to paint my 39 pickup Dartmouth Green also. Is there a Dupont Centari code that is close? I can't seem to find any thing. Would black fenders be a factory combination?

Re: Modern paint code for Dartmouth Green?
My paint guy looked up all the original and replacement codes I gave him on Dartmouth Green and after no modern equivalent was found, he called DuPont and they came up with a "recommended replacement" color. I went to his place with an original piece off the truck to compare it to a piece of hidden original paint from the truck. Glad I did - it was a mile off so we found a custom color in the sunlight that is a absolute dead ringer in a acrylic enamel. It is DuPont color code DS136AMQ. Good luck.

Re: Modern paint code for Dartmouth Green?
Thanks for the DuPont color code for Dartmouth Green. Was that for Centari? I will try a quart for starters at my local paint shop.

Re: Modern paint code for Dartmouth Green?
I emailed PPG and they wouldn't give me the code directly (odd?) but they gave it to my supplier, who in turn gave it to me.
It took a day or so to get a response ,but I was happy to see that I could get my color in a more modern system. BTW, my color was Moselle Maroon. |

Re: Modern paint code for Dartmouth Green?
I used the above codes and took them to my paint supplier. He stated that all codes were good codes, but the Centari paint used a tint that he has never seen. He was able to supply Dartmouth Green in Nason, which is a DuPont product and $15. a gal cheaper than the Centari which sold for $225 a gal.

Re: Modern paint code for Dartmouth Green?
A paint code is only good for the type of paint you use. Centari has a a differant mixture then Imron. Dupont has a facility in Exton. Pa. that converts the old codes to the new type of paint you want. My grandaughter used to be the one that did the replacement color codes as people requested them. She now works with auto manufactures on colors for future cars, say 2015 models. I would put a hardner in whatever make enamel you use. I just bought a quart of PPG enamel for my grandsons P/U with a small can of hardner. I was in Tractor Supply the other day and they had a large selection of tractor enamel and had the hardner also. Much less than auto paint suppiers prices. G.M.
