WHY?? do many say, "Just leave it AS IS"? SCRUB it up really well, or folks will think you're a LAZY, NASTY PIG!! It will still have PLENTY of "PATINA"!
Some folks confuse "PATINA" with plain old NASTINESS!!! My Mamma would have a FIT!!

Rare wide bed with the correct fenders. Good luck with the project.

I will clean it up, but I'm not planning on painting it or anything. This is how it was when it was my grandpa's daily driver and my mom and aunts and uncles road in it as kids. I kinda want to keep it that way.

Welcome to the Barn. Very nice project and it appears to be pretty solid.
Good luck and come back if you need help with anything. We are here and happy to give input and help.

Thanks for the welcome, guys. I started a "journal" of sorts to keep track of what fixes I make and cool drives or cruises I go on. Over here:

Sounds like a good plan. You were lucky to get such a good complete pickup, and know the history of it besides. Just keep all moving parts well lubed and the brakes adjusted, and you should have lots of good rides in it.

That missing carb to manifold gasket will make a big difference, and I always buy the thick copper gasket, like original.

I'm from Redwood City, originally, back when it was still a nice little city.
Left in '73, went to Sacramento area, left there when it too turned to crap, left in '98, it was already going downhill quickly.
