Re: 31 Phaeton Barrett Jackson SOLD
I just watched part of the show today (6-25-2011). A VW bus brought almost $200,000.A special edition Camaro brought a $100,000. Only 100 will be built by GM. It was a charity type auction. Cell phones for soldiers was the charity.

Re: 31 Phaeton Barrett Jackson SOLD
The auction car, a De Luxe Phaeton, body style 180-A,was advertised for sale last Fall by the Auto Collection, Las Vegas, NV and was described as having "recently undergone a 100 point, no expense spared restoration, and is better than new." Further described as having "traveled a mere 950 miles since the restoration."

Re: 31 Phaeton Barrett Jackson SOLD
Re-production valve stems??? Why stop there. I bet hub caps , luggage rack ,top irons, top prop studs and saddles, bumper clamps, dash light, bumpers, door handles [inside and out]wiper motor[incorrect] , if it had a quail [yes re-pop] any sheet metal,Not a Bill Sturm interior..WAS the car judged at any National Meet?? Its easy to say 100 point restoration,No expense spared?? If done correctly he lost money at $62,000.00 and someone got a deal. I should know.Anyone know of this car??? I could be totally wrong in my discription.. l.o.l.[Skipper very nice car! it sits perfect as one should].but the white walls???l/o/l/

I think what he was referring to was the fact that the car had rubber valve stems clearly visible on the wheels. If there are obvious errors like that, it makes you wonder what else may have been done incorrectly. Jim |

Re: 31 Phaeton Barrett Jackson SOLD
Looking at the photos quite abit . Is that an alternator I see ? If I was spending that sort of money I would hope that the water pump didn't need a cover to stop it leaking ! None the less still looks nice and would love it in my garage -Karl

Re: 31 Phaeton Barrett Jackson SOLD
I particularly like the description:
"It is equipped with lots of factory options and has very low miles since restoration." Lots of factory options |

Re: 31 Phaeton Barrett Jackson SOLD
I agree!!
Something to think about... The people who have the disposible income to spend at this auction view their purchases as a 'value'. "Value' can be defined in many ways. If they have earned their money and are willing to step up to the plate to pay for something, what does it matter if it isn't a perceived value to you? I am of the opinion this is only a down-turned economy if YOU let it be a down-turned economy!! It is NOT a down-turned economy for those who don't want it to be!! In everything we do, Success is Attitude! I personally don't see anything wrong with that man's $68k purchase if it is what he wants. Congrats to him. . |
