What is the Correct Splash Apron to Frame hardware?
For my 31, what is the correct bolt/ screw, washer, and nut to attach the running board splash apron to the frame.
I looked in the hardware book and came away scratching my head. It appears you are supposed to use a 1/4" - 28 round head screw and a 1/4" - 20 nut. They also do not list a washer or lock washer. I am guessing there should be a large washer between the screw head and the Apron. I would think there would be a washer and a lock washer on the frame side. Thanks, Kevin |

That was a perfect answer, Pat. Written, with a photo, with a source. Just perfect.

Re: What is the Correct Splash Apron to Frame hardware?
The apron to frame bolt was the same as the rear lamp bracket to fender bolt. The large head (in both cases) was changed to a smaller head in late 1930. the bolt was raven finished with the head dipped in black enamel. The nut used was a raven finished hex nut on the apron to frame.

Thanks guys!
It turns out the proper bolts were in the package of hardware I got from Roy Nacawitz. Now I just need to get the aprons in a nice shiny black. |
