Default Ford 59x4 fuel fitting to glass sediment bulb?

I'm not having any luck with getting a seal at the engine side of the bulb.
Do I push the carb fuel line all the way to the rear of bulb?

Any ideas on how to fix this leak?

The tube must not extend more then 1/8" beyond the ferul.
