Shadetree reminded me that growing up in Wisconsin in the '40's the term "cubby hole" was very common. I didn't hear glovebox until many years later.

I am trying to figure out where to locate a new am/fm radio in my 1939 ford deluxe. Would one fit in the glove box out of sight? Jon Laing
