Re: A timely question
If you are a member of the Early Ford V8 Club, you can do searches for articles on the web-site and read certain specifc articles there but they are copies of the original articles and sometimes have to be enlarged to read them. I wish there was access to all of the articles there but maybe some day. They have had some points of view there that can not be found in biography books. Most are written by car guys that did the research or were actually at the Ford plants doing the work. The specific car books have a lot of research in them as well but mostly about the subject and not the manufactuing process.

Re: A timely question
Quote:
The Allen Nevins books are a more serious work, representing a great deal more research, and as such, intended to educate rather than to entertain. The volumes are three in number, popularly known as The Ford Trilogy. Titles are: Ford, The Man, The Company Expansion And Challenge Decline And Rebirth Each volume is over 600 pages, and all are out of print. They can be quite expensive if you don't shop around for a good price. Let me know if you get serious about this set.

Re: A timely question
I like the "photo shop" of the "T" & '49... In truth, the average time for a new model is just around three years, the '49 Ford being an exception to that rule, as the intended '49 Ford actually became the '49 Mercury. The "Wiz Kids", in particular McNamara, thought that the intended '49 Ford was too big so... a new team of designers were brought in and the '49 Ford went from design to production on the fast track.
