Default Here I am!

Here I am.... a newbie to the world of the model A! I've seen them up close at shows and read a few books but never had one until now. "Now" is actualy a week or so away... but I'm excited!

I ran across this one that had been turned into a race car looking thing, but the job done isn't so great. I basically bought it for the chassis and will construct my own hotrod/speedster like they did back in they day....except do a nicer job than the previous owner....aka no plywood!

I've restored a few vehicles and i'm a stock purist at heart but I never feel too bad about modification if its already suffered through a set of ham hands and starring in its own cheap horror movie.

Chassis will remain stock, and here's my question...

It currently has a shot 28-29 radiator and shell on it. I'd like to use a 30-31 radiator and shell I have access to. Since I don't have it hear yet I can't just flop in in to test fit. Will the later radiator fit the earlier one's mounting points?

a later radiator on an early frame will cause hood mis alignment that cannot be overcome without changing the front cross member to the 30/31 type.

Here is an additional web site that will give you enough ideas to give you a headache.

Hello and welcome to the Model A comm. If you are building a speedster you can use the later radiator. You will possibly be making your own cowl so ,build it to fit thats how my speedster is going together. Have fun and be safe.....Dave

matching a 28-29 frame and cowl to a 30-31 radiator and shell can cause a multitude of alignment problems, unless you build your own hood which can/will overcome the misalignment.
