As far as I know, they were all stamped in the same place. I think one person said they found the body number on the right side, where the passenger's heel would be with the feet straight down on the floor.

Re: Sports Coupé Jan 28..
The letters told which plant assembled the car, and the number is how many of that body style had been made so far for the year in that plant.
My 1928 Phaeton has "TC 476", so it was assembled in the Twin Cities Ford Plant and for a tank date of 9-27-28 the number 476 may sound low, but not many people wanted an open car in Minnesota, and the Tudor was the car in demand. |

I used to own a very early Sport Coupe, A7191. Its body number was BO02730. It was sent to final assembly on January 10, 1928. You are correct that BO stands for Buffalo, New York. I cannot think of an early Sport Coupe body that was not built in Buffalo. For some reason I cannot see the photos that you are sending. When you have time would you please send a few of them to my home e-mail address. Thanks, Plind. Dean |

Don't be surprised if it TOR for Toronto. Or another Canadian plant as a lot of the export cars where built in Canada.
