I have used it in two of my cars. Works good.

Just be sure everything is as clean as possible when you install it.

My experience,

These kits work very well if the leak is from the back end of the cluster and idler shafts. Both shafts are notorious leakers. The kit bolts on without having to remove the transmission. During a transmission overhaul both the idler and cluster shafts can be replaced with those that have been machined and have an O-ring installed. Most suppliers carry them.

This seal kit covers additional areas of the leakage.

Although it is a little harder to install ...

I put one in while replacing the transmission ...

No leaks since then.

Bunnyc,
The one you are looking at did the job for me and it was easy to install.

I believe this kit is made by Mitchell.

This does a very good of fixing the leaks out of the front of the transmission.

Actually, a person may need both type seal kits. One to fix the leaks from the counter gear shaft hole and reverse idler shaft hole at the rear of the transmission and the Mitchell type seal for the front shift fork shaft holes in the front. I have both in my one car and they both work well.

My opinion,

Chris W.

I just installed the O ring shafts and am surprised by the amount of open bolt holes in the case. I would use some RTV on all the bolts that go into the trans case to prevent leaks out of them also.

Also make sure that vent hole in the top is open or it can pressurize the case causing more leaks.

This seal kit is for the front of the trans, the one the OP asked about was for the rear.

As an alternative to the one Benson mentioned for the front you could use these plugs available from Mike's (and much cheaper) http://www.mikes-afordable.com/product/A7202.html

I have not had a drop of oil from my trans since installing this seal kit. Well maybe a 'drop' from the u-joint area.

Hard to conceive that 600W can weep but it does - Rear seal kit stopped Maybellene from spotting.

Used it for years until I rebuilt the tranny and used the gear shafts with the o" ring.
