Radiator Fan Differences
So the saga for knowledge continues on the '35 project. I am trying to determine just what I need to look for to get a fan on this thing. It is a 24 stud with a power gen. What year(s) fan brackets should I be looking for and is the outer pulley for the crank a separate part that bolts on?
There are threaded holes in the crank pulley that is on there now. I see that Mac's has a fan hub but, what about the mounting bracket? Just not sure what/where. |

Re: Radiator Fan Differences
35's, with their sloping radiators, need to have the fan mounted on the generator. You'll have precious little room to mount anywhere else

Re: Radiator Fan Differences
Here's a screen grab of the new engine for '32. The '35's original rig would have been quite similar. Notice the fan mounts on the generator. Not the best position for cooling, but that's the design that went into production.
But having a 24 stud engine... you just went outside my area of expertise.

Re: Radiator Fan Differences
Speedway has a pulley that fits on an alternator designed to mount the original 33-35 fan.I don't know if it will adapt to your alt. Another solution is to use an elec fan.
https: //www.speedwaymotors.com/Offenhauser-Flathead-Alternator-Pulley-w-Fan-Mount-1932-38-Ford,25025.html By the looks of your setup your Alt is sitting to high. I put a 24 stud engine in a stock '35 and a '36 but used a Whitney gen to alt conversion with no fan clearance issues. In both cases I used the original intake manifolds specific to 35 & 36.You intake looks like a '37 which won't make a difference. Re: Radiator Fan Differences
Lower the alt. to where there are no clearance issues then get a shorter belt to fit.
Or if installing the alt. fan adapter with larger pulley, with alt. as low as possible, determine length of new belt if necessary.

Something to keep in mind....a "59T" manifold on LEFT, and a 1935 manifold on RIGHT. DD |
