Default Pulling engine and transmission...can I put both in cradle?

I'm needing to pull the engine and transmission from my '30 Cabriolet project so that I can replace the existing front cross member with the correct one. I will have it stripped down to the frame, so getting the engine and transmission out together shouldn't be too bad. I'd like to temporarily store the engine and transmission together in a wooden cradle that I'll build and have on the concrete floor out of the way while I work on drilling out the old rivets and riveting in the new (old but correct) cross member. Any reason that I couldn't (or shouldn't) use the wooden cradle plans posted on here a couple of years ago, and add some additional supports for the transmission? Thanks for your thoughts and advice, as I'm a newbie to Model A's!

As long as it is supported what could go wrong?

Welcome to Model As and the Barn.

I built several wooden cradles. I have used them to transport my engine to and from the machine shop and the hold my rebuilt engine before I was ready to reinstall. I even started the engine while on the cradle before installation to "check it out". That same cradle is now holding a friends rebuilt engine.

I have one for my spare engine also (in back ground). I never tried it with a transmission but if you support the back of the trans the wooden cradle is certainly strong enough to hold the weight.

The transmission will hang on the back, no problem. You don’t need to support it.
The engine weighs enough to keep it on the cradle with out support.
I do it all the time.
