Very nice photo, that car is beautiful. Is that a hemlock in the background?

Beautiful picture! My A stays high and dry in the shed come wintertime. First thing they do here in MN is lay down a heavy layer of salt. In looking at your pics I see how slushy the snow is on the ground, here the ground is froze solid so the snow stays hard on the ground/roads. Drive on it for a bit here and it turns to slick ice. That's why the salt is needed. I hate it, but understand its necessary. Most vehicles are starting to show serious rust in 5 to 7 years. I'm looking forward to buying an aluminum F150 some day. No more rust! My brother's $60,000 Chev Denali pickup rusted through the cab corners and over the rear wheels in 5 years from new. He had to have the frame reinforced too due to rust. The Chev steel is the most susceptible.

My wife was freaked out that day, we drove over the hill in puyallup on fruitland ( I think that was part of the grand tour for the 1914 National meet.) There were a few inches of snow, and she was worried because her grandmother had died in an twenties car after sliding into the ditch on a snowy road over by Pullman wa. Also did you see the pitting on the bright work of mike Ts cabby? They must have put something down on the route he drove. It was a fun day.

Here in N.GA we had 5" but on the Weather Channel this morning they said some parts of GA got 10". I am located in the foothills so it was probably in the N.E. GA mountains.

I am sure some folks would love to box some up and send some of theirs to you!

I take it Melbourne is too far North for snow..... even in July.

This is my first year with a Model A. I am kind of anxious to try it out on the snow when it comes. We have had a slight dusting this year, but no real thing. It will come, however.

Melbourne is south.

It does usually snow at the top of low mountains about 40 km east of Melbourne during winter.

Although nothing as spectacular as driving on the coast road from LA to Frisco and driving thru snow and seeing the beach below.

Here is one of mine a couple of years ago,out of the snow.It was a bad snow year for us,and there is a well and water pump in a hole under that car.I had to shovel my way in,then slither under the car,and down the hole to fix the pump.If I wanted to shovel some more I could have driven the car out.

And as Bill said, GM is notorious for leaving bare metal unpainted.

We bought a new Ford and a new Chevy pickup trucks for the local Phone Co. about 5 years ago. Within 4 years the Chevy was popping out, rusting in the lower cab corners. Heck even the wheel wells were just plain paint no undercoating. How cheap. Driving on gravel roads ya wanna guess how long that paint stayed on? The Ford is fine no problems at all. The Chevy frame is also giving out, totally rusted and the local body shop guy (die hard GM) said that is a major problem with GM and Toyota trucks, said they have cheap cheap frames. He bought a Ford for a flat bed tow truck he said the Chevy is too 'weak' and won't tow the mark that they make for a bad truck to haul cars on.

That's a great picture. My Model A stays in the garage until Spring. The only exception is if there's a relatively mild Winter day. In that case I'll bring it out for a short drive.

I used my 1928 Woody Huckster in the snow for a Christmas Card a few years back. Christmas time makes one sentimental and I wish I had never sold it. Merry Christmas to the new owner and I hope they enjoy it..... Owning 3 other A's helps the pain some what.

Clark Station in Snow.pdf

Sometimes there is too much snow for any Model A around here. Dug out an old photo of the Gulf gas station that my Grandfather and Father built in Boone County, Northern Illinois just before WWII. They had a snow storm that had snow drifts all the way up to the telephone wires and all the local roads were totally blocked until this Rotary Snowthrower arrived from Elgin, IL to plow out the roads.

"Over the bridge and through the woods to granny's house we go." Attached are some snow pictures of my 28 phaeton taken on Thanksgiving morning several years ago. Nobody wanted to go out with me for a ride that morning. As a matter of fact these pictures were taken about 5 miles from house and my tire marks were the only ones on the road in this area.

[QUOTE=BILL WILLIAMSON;1563229]Be sure to use SKINNY tires in the SNOW!!!

Back in 1968 my rancher neighbor in Northern Colorado bought a brand new Ford 1/2 ton PU, brought it home and installed a set of model A wheels, wrapped a chain around through the spokes. He said 4x4's weren't needed and this was all he needed to feed cattle in deep snow. He lamented the fact that he no longer had a Model A flatbed to feed with as he claimed that was the best thing short of a wagon pulled by a team of Belgians

heya Frank55A, that's way too close to get to that cold lake for my comfort. I'm sure you knew your distances, but that was brave man!! BEAUTIFUL Phaeton!!

Where I live, I only remember snow twice - once in the early 60's and once about 1987 or 1988. At that, the snow was probably gone by about 9:00 am. So unfortunately, there won't be any pictures of my Model A in the snow, but I can drive the car all year long. I do enjoy seeing the pictures of the cars in the snow. Enjoy them wherever you are!
