Default need to sell

I havenít been on the site for a while, busy putting in anew kitchen for the wife and taking care of my dadís farm.
Turns out the very old barn at my dadís farm, has a big holein the metal roof. So, I am going to sell my 1934 truck to pay for a new roof.
I am looking for opinions on a reasonable value. Also, howshould I go about selling it, eBay seems to be a good rout, but I have noexperience with selling on eBay.
About the truck
Title for a 1933 that matched the cab
Everything else is 1934 eng./frame
Rebuilt running 1934 flathead v8
3 radiators
Rebuilt original trans/new clutch
Frame sandblasted and painted black
Set up/backing plates for hydraulic brakes
All original steel cab, bed, Grill, front and rear fenders
I have video of it running upon request.
Pleas let me know if Iím missing any important informationor if you have any questions.
Thanks
Tom

ebay is a good place to advertise but put high reserve. gets a lot of exposure in areas you couldn't get anywhere else. I have sold cars listed on ebay but always after auction closed.

Watch out for scammers that are out of the country or working on an oil rig that have an "agent" to deal with you, sending extra money up front. They can rescind payment on bank checks, paypal etc. like pending transactions on your credit card. Just sayin.... Every car I have advertised on CL had scammers contacting me VERY soon after I posted the ad.
Project cars can be hard to sell, I hope you have good luck.

Tom, All good advice above, and I have a bit more: You say the title doesn't match the frame, but it has the original transmission? Not sure what you're saying, transmission/title, or transmission/cab? FWIW, the title would match numbers stamped on the frame and the transmission, nothing on the cab.

Whatever you can do before selling to confirm legal ownership, you'll be better off at the sale. Some DMVs affix a new registration plate to the car, some go by the serial number, but if there is no title to match the serial number, the DMV may require a bond for a period of time against someone else claiming ownership. Hope you can get that worked out, because a valid-numbers-matching-title is a game changer.

Think you have a good start for someone. Titles can be worked out but can be pain. Not the end of the world and a 34 is a great ford truck.

I don't want to be downer, but as it sits it may not cover a new roof, but it depends on the the roof. State all issues in the sale if going on ebay, not that you wouldn't anyway.

Very nice project truck for someone.

Thank you everyone for your response.

I plane on getting a title for the VIN on the frame ifpossible. I would not be comfortable buying a vehicle without a matching title,I just want to make sure the $300-$500 will be worth it.
The only question I need answered now is what would be a reasonableprice to ask or a reserve if I put it on eBay? I really have no idea with somethingthis old, most of my automotive knowledge starts in the mid-60s. I realize thisis not an exact science and there will be a wide variety of opinions, but I needa starting point.
Thanks again
Tom

Just going by the photos it appears to have some nice sheetmetal. Again I'm judging strictly by photos. If it runs and moves under it's own power I would give a ball park figure of $6000-8000. So if you put it on e-Bay set the reserve at $8000. It's a project and at this stage of the game they are not fast movers.

You may want to give this business a call and discuss your situation.
My understanding is he has been in business in MD a lot of years.

From the pics, I do not see running boards or gas tank. Ford 32=48 cars and up to 47 trks all have the serial number stamped on the frame, not on the cab unless it is a local juristiction plate of some sort so its the frame that counts. I am also of the opinion you have a solit 8K there or better.

I gather you have a title for a 1933 but it doesn't match any numbers on the vehicle? I am sure I will get some naysayers, but if I owned it and was running it (as opposed to selling it) I would stamp the frame with the 33 numbers and use the title. It will look like a 33. with the mismatched frame, more of a hotrod/driver anyway.

I am an avid "BaT" follower and it is a great venue for some cars. I suspect it probably would not be for this one for a couple reasons. First, you have to "apply" to have your car listed on BaT and they only accept a small percentage of those that apply. Although they sometimes list project cars, it's usually really exotic project cars. Second, the BaT audience doesn't seem to be geared toward pre-war cars; it seems like they rarely meet reserve and sell.

Finally, you have to have the title situation 100% locked down. Because the whole BaT format is geared around giving people the opportunity to comment on your listing for a week, if there are any issues with title, frame stampings, etc., the commenters will sniff it out and savage the seller, usually resulting in the auction being cancelled and the seller being banned from BaT.

Thank you again for the information, lots of great advice and opinions.
I will start the process of getting the title soon and let everyone, who expressed interest know whenI list it for sale.

I'd sell it without a title and give them a bill of sale. States such as NY don't tittle old cars anyway. I can go to NY DMV with the appropriate paper work and walk out with a registered vehicle.

And turning that around, any NY resident having that ability to register in NY, would nevertheless seek to devalue the purchase price because of the defective Title.

To attempt to sell while stating that only some states require a Title would be an attempt to defraud.
To purchase a Title from a dealer in "Automotive Memorabilia" for the purpose of sale with an untitled car is a crime.
To stamp numbers on a frame to match a Title is a crime.
To do anything to circumvent the law is a crime, and the original poster is not asking for advice on how to be dishonest.

Yeah I guess restamping the frame goes too far, but most of the other methods are a bit of a stretch as well. Basically you need a bill of sale for the frame from a state that does not issue titles for old cars. Georgia comes to mind. In Massachusetts they didn't issue titles before early the 70's but someone would have to certify that they have owned it that long.
