Water Outlet Neck Removal and Torque
I recently replaced my head gasket on my '28. After some thought I thought that I would put in a thermostat along with a temp gauge. I want to buy a new water outlet neck with a hole drilled and tapped for it.
If I remove the old neck, and replace it with the new style, will I screw up the head gasket as the two bolts also act as head bolts? I guess the simpler question is if you loosen a head bolt, are you going to mess things up even if you retorque? Also, looks like the current neck is from a 30 or 31. Any problem with that other than length? Thanks! |

Re: Water Outlet Neck Removal and Torque
do you have a pic of your current setup - you should have the shorter 28/29 style...
i wouldn't imagine just replacing the neck and loosening the studs would affect anything. just be extremely careful when you go to tighten the new neck down. I did not use a gasket on mine - just smeared a coat of RTV then torqued them back and forth in 5 lb increments till i hit 45lbs.

Remove water. Should have no problem.
