V8 60 question

I'm going to restore a 40's midget race car and i want to put a V8 60 in the car. I've never had the little V8 or worked on one, but my question is do they generally have the same crack issues as their big brother?

I have several & none of mine have any cracks. I’m sure there are others with different stories.

I think far less. I just put together a display motor for a friend and it had zero cracks anywhere. My guess is that in stock form, didn't generate as much heat as the 85s.

They have minimal problems with cracks.
We had the fastest Ford midget in USAC in the late 50's. No Offy could come close.

Be aware that the are two V-8 60's. The early ones had tin sides on the block. The later ones were all cast iron like the 85's

The 40 block is the desired one. It also has bigger journals.

Simca cranks can be made to fit and they will give stroke increase.

We found Ford 60 parts at Little Dearborn in Minnesota. (888)282-2066. As said above, there are two different types of 60's, and different water pumps. We used them as a source when a customer brought in a Crosley with a 60 in it. I've never seen one with a cracked block. That doesn't mean there are not any.
