Default Lost my ignition keys!

Ok somehow I lost the keys to my 56 mercury, my question is, is there any way I can get the lock cylinder out without the key or should I just buy a whole new switch?

Thanks

Ryan

you may be able to remove the ignition switch depending on your ability.I do not think it will help as I do not think there is a number on switch to have a new key cut.do not forget to disconnect the battery to avoid shorting a wire or two while removing.

Most lock smiths can cut a key to your switch. If you are in a metropolitan area call around and ask if they can make you a key. Disconnect the wires and take it to him.

EDIT sorry Frank. I was slow typing.

Hope you got a new key , I took my ignition out of my 60 falcon in about 10 minutes by just pooping the clip off the back of it and pulling out the tumbler .

Add your general location to your post (and your profile) and maybe someone can recommend a locksmith.

You may be able to remove the door lock cylinder and it may have a code number on it which will match the ignition (if original). If it does, many locksmiths can still cut to that code. If not, replacement ignition cylinder is your best bet.
