Tail shaft centre bearing
Hi All,
I am going to replace the centre bearing in my 42 1 1/2 tonne truck as the bearing is rough and the rubber grooming holding it is not that good either. My questions are, 1. Do you just dig the old river out worth a screwdriver, as you can imagine it's in there good 2. I see the bearing for sale but not the rubber gromit holding it all, does anyone know where to get the gromit and bearing from? |

Re: Tail shaft centre bearing
The 1 1/2 ton truck driveshaft does not use the same center bearing as the pass. car. I think Skip only has a replacement for the car. I would try Barnfind 08.

Re: Tail shaft centre bearing
As Gary has said, the passenger car center bearing is not the same as the one you need. The car OEM bearing looks like this. The last photo shows the actual bearing after vulcanized rubber casing has dissolved. Skips replacement is shown in this thread.
https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23729 You may be able to find a pillow block bearing that will work or can be modified to fit. Look here and check with local shop that deal with truck drive shafts. https://www.google.com/search?q=pill...hrome&ie=UTF-8 Last edited by 19Fordy; 08-06-2019 at 11:59 AM. |

Re: Tail shaft centre bearing
I found a NOS bearing, NOS seals, NOS rubber insulator, and even a NOS bearing hangar all on EBay for my F3. Try searching using the FOMOCO part numbers rather than your exact application. Lots of folks don't know what their parts fit but they are able to list by part number. Just try searching for "Ford 01T".
