I am thinking of a paint job for a 1930 CC PU which would be dark green fenders, running boards, wheels and a lighter green cab,hood,box.........any thoughts???? Any one have solid colors on fenders, running boards, splash aprons other than black????? Would love to see pix of different color combos if the barners allow such treason......let's see some.....any thoughts appreciated ..bobbycoke

It is your car do what you want. It is not so much treason, but saving you some time and money...

That being said. Get lots of comments from people looking at the actual color combo's. Make sure your family is 100% with you on the colors. (what does your wife think?)

Quite frankly these color combo's turn out hideous, just plain hard on the eyes. I am trying to think of non standard colors that turned out looking good.

You idea does have possibilities with a very dark green for the fenders and the right contrast for the body. You really want to paint out the colors side by side and think about it.

Had a friend that painted his 31 coupe John Deer Green and Yellow. Sure turned a lot of heads. It is your car so do what you want.

How about dark green body, hood, bed and black fenders. I know that sounds like a very common combo, but with black wheels, I think they look great. Just my 2 1/2 cents. Like what was stated above, its your pickup so do as you like. Good luck with it.

I like a mix of browns and tans like seen above. It is your truck do as you will but if you ever plan to sell it you just lost a chunk of market if its not painted close to a correct scheme.

That's exactly what my friend did with his 31 wide bed. I'll see if he has any pictures of it. He used dark green in place of black, and a lighter green on the rest.

In the meantime here is Dusty's good looking Model A. Where did he go?

One of my As is painted different. The fenders are a 55 Packard color. My thoughts were to paint them black but I got so many compliments that I decided to leave them that color

Think about re-sale..........................painting is expensive even if you can do it yourself. JMO

I have a 55 first series Chevy pickup that is Juniper Green. It's a beautiful color, although I'm not sure what it would look like on an A. Give it a look.

One of the guys in our club has a '31 Tudor. It was painted John Deere Green and Yellow when he bought it. Had every intention of changing the color, but it sorta grew on him and he kept it that way.

I would happily send you private pictures of my '31 coupe with this color combination. I won't post them here, because the chrome reversed wheels and the 3.5" chop might rankle some feathers.

Go ahead and post them. The one with green fenders posted by Tom and the one with rose colored fenders are pretty neat but they have probably already ruffled some feathers.

The rest of us like to see what people do with their cars. It's no different than putting downdraft carbs, headers and high compression heads on your car. It's like going to a virtual car show across the U.S.

Maybe I'm wrong but didn't Ford dip fenders and splash shields in black because it was faster and cheaper? I seem to recall reading that they would paint a commercial any color "livery" the customer wanted (and was willing to pay for ).
