Default 39 radio antenna

Hi Gents

I have a stock antenna (on the roof) on my 39. I want to remove just the rod and leave the base, on the roof. I removed the (what I think is) set screw. However the rod will not pull out.

What’s the trick. I see no other screws. There is a spot on opposite side where another set screw may have been but it appears to be missing.

It should come out with the set screws removed, probably held in by corrosion.

I am pretty sure that the wire is clipped to the shaft in the middle
