Thanks.
We tackled this one early on and covered the Phil Silvers' V-8 convertible on page one of this thread.
Looks like a 1947 or 1948, rather than a 1942.

See the film clip:

Thanks for the tip. I always liked this film.
Touch of Evil (1958) has a brilliantly filmed continuous long shot (tracking shot) at the beginning.

1928-1931 Model A/V-8 Hot Rod Roadster
1946 Ford Tudor
1953 Ford

The W.C. Fields car....its story is well told in Ford Life magazine. The exceptional rag which you would love, Tony, if you have never seen one. It is very historical and centered around the Ford Motor Company in general, mostly prewar2.

Perry Smith,

Thanks for the info.

I have seen them.

I have something similar I think: Ford News, August 1941 (Vol XXI, No. 8). Artilces about FoMoCo and people using Ford automobiles. "Me and My Ford in Mexico," "Two Weeks in Indian Country," "Adventuring with Ford Cars" and "Wings for Defense" are a few titles of the articles in this Ford Mag. What date is the Ford Life with the Fields' car?

TonyM.

1932 Ford Roadster

A few shots of this car can be seen in the Jimmy Stewart Classic,
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939).

I was wondering how long it was going to take before someone mentioned this movie.
I am ready with the Fords.

Bob,

The title of this movie is Public Enemies (2009).

1933 Ford 5W Coupe
1934 Ford Fordor Deluxe
1934 Ford Fordor Standard
1934 Ford 5W Coupe
1933-1934 Ford Fordor Standard
1934 Ford Deluxe (sedan)
1934 Ford Fordor Deluxe
1933-1934 Ford (model unknown)

There may be more V-8 Fords than this. There is the Deluxe Fordor at the Airport and there is the Standard Fordor that Dillinger drives out of Crown Point for sure. Appears another 1934 deluxe used as well. The Coupes are in the background on the street scenes in Tucson and Chicago and another Coupe at the airport (might be the same 33 Coupe used in the Tucson street scene). 1930s eye candy.

I thumbed through my "Ford Life" collection last night and this is what I found-

Vol.1 No.5 '23-'25? Touring in "The Crazy World of Laurel & Hardy". This car is very effectively reduced (squished between two trolley cars) by the prop dept. to about a 36" wheelbase, with L&H and a young lady still sitting in it.
V1 N6 '29 Phaeton with W.C.Fields in "It's a Gift".
V1 N7 '46 Convertible in "Fugitive From Terror", starring Ida Lupino.
V3 N3 '40 Deluxe Stn. Wgn. in "Under Fiesta Stars", noted as a "B" movie.
V3 N3 '33 Std. Phaeton in Columbia All Star Comedy No. 457, and Stooges Comedy
No. 4030. This must be the W.C.Fields referenced car.
V3 N6 '39 Std. Stn. Wgn. in "Dangers of the Canadian Mounted", noted as "obscure".
V4 N3 '23-'25? Touring with Arthur Lake and Penny Singleton in "Blondie's Holiday".

I found other mentions of Fords used in films but no actual title given and also, there are quite a number of photos on studio lots and other locations with actors of the period.

I too have always loved watching American movies with Old Fords in them. Anyone remember that beauitiful apple green 34 Ford 5 Window Coupe that the equally beautiful "Angie Dickenson" drove in the TV movie about "Pearl Harbour" I was building my 34 Ford Coupe & seeing this coupe spared me on to get mine finished.............

Bruce,

We covered this one already, see post # 87.

I don't think they wreck the car though. I think it appears that the car is wrecked because of the way they filmed it, edited it and the perspective from which it is viewed. My opinion.

There are some really good shots of this car-- a great rear quartering shot and a good straight on from the front shot. Also a long shot from the side.
