Default 40 Ford DLX antenna

Good Morning
I'm in need of a copy of 40 DLX thru the roof antenna instructions.
The antenna is in the car and the radio installed BUT nothing from the end of antenna thru the dash.
I can't read the instructions in Drake's catalog even if I try to enlarge it.
Any help would be appreciated. Also what I may need to finish the install.

Thanks,
Paul in CT

Paul,
The top of the radio has a threaded piece that goes through the dash and is secured by a large thin nut. Over that is a brown plastic piece that also screws down on the threaded piece. The antenna end sits in the center opening of the threaded piece.
I'll grab my camera and get a picture of the radio (not currently installed) and take a look in Joe's Ford V8 catalog. Back to you in a bit.

Here are the pictures. One shows the top of the radio without the "radio nut" pn O1A-18808 in Joe's Antique Parts catalog p. 115. Another shows the radio nut installed in the dash with the brown plastic piece unscrewed and out of the way. The third shows the assembly as it would look with the antenna installed. I recall having to remove the antenna to fit the plastic piece that threads onto the top of the radio nut.

Paul, Do you need a template for the antenna hole in the roof? How about a copy of the authentic instructions?
Coupe or sedan?

What size hole do you have to drill on the top of the dash to accommodate the special nut that retains the radio?

The hole should already be there with a filler plug in it.

There is a hole there but it is too small for my radio fitting. Did you have to drill it out? Looks like it needs to be 1/2" but not sure. That's why I asked the question.

It's the correct size for the special nut that attaches the radio to the dash and the antenna to the radio (01A-18808).

Where did you get the big nut that goes on top of the dash? It didn't come in the antenna kit and it wasn't in Carpenter's picture of the fitting? Do I have to improvise?

How about some pictures at the inside upper point where it goes thru the body?

On the wagon, do I have to also drill a hole through the upper part of the center divider garnish rail? Where does the antenna rod pass through at the upper area? Stuck on this project.

Can't say on wagons, but on sedans, it's pre-drilled and covered by the rear view mirror mount, through which the antenna passes. The only drilling required is through the roof.

Thanks, I'll have another look see. I do have a pass through hole in the mirror but that's all I noticed. Anybody out there have a 40 wagon with a dash antenna?

If you're a member of the EFV8 Club, you could check the member directory for '40 wagon owners.

What do you mean by "dash antenna"? IF you mean the stock antenna that comes down from the header to the radio, then yes, I have one in my 40 Woodie. Probably pictures in my 40 Woodie album that shows how it fits. Same antenna as convertible. It goes up through a hole in the special mirror bracket that fits wagon and convertible and has a tapered rubber grommet where it goes through the garnish molding.
